Phillip S. Bixby is a 1994 cum laude graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine with a dual degree in History and Government and Legal Studies. In 1997, he graduated from the Dickinson
School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he was an Associate Editor of the Dickinson Law Review. Following law school, Phil served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Justices
of the Maine Superior Court. Prior to joining Friedman Gaythwaite Wolf & Leavitt in 2003, Phil practiced law at Ryan Smith & Carbine in Rutland, Vermont, where he defended several
of Vermont’s largest ski areas, and at Orr & Reno in Concord, New Hampshire, where he represented a wide-range of clients in all aspects of litigation. Phil’s practice
at Friedman Gaythwaite Wolf & Leavitt includes employment, commercial, insurance, product liability, real estate, and personal injury litigation. Phil is admitted to practice in Maine,
New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Phil lives in Portland, Maine with his wife, Susan, who is also an attorney. In his free time, he enjoys alpine and cross-country skiing, sailing, hiking, reading history, and playing
and coaching baseball. Phil is also an active United Way volunteer.
